This surprise album was released on December 11, 2020 via Republic Records, within a short span of five months after the artist's previous album, "Folklore." The majority of the album was recorded at Long Pond Studio, located in the picturesque Hudson Valley. The album exposes a blend of alternative rock, indie folk, and chamber pop styles, with plucked guitars, somber pianos, strings, and sparse percussion. The lyrics explore the complexities of human emotion, including love, unity, infidelity, and grief. The album boasts guest performances from American bands Bon Iver, Haim, and the National.
